Everton have severe injury problems ahead of their first visit to Arsenal’s new Emirates Stadium.

Boss David Moyes is hoping that Phil Neville (hamstring), Joseph Yobo (groin) and Nuno Valente (groin) will have recovered to play, but it will be a late decision on all three.

Moyes has Tony Hibbert, Gary Naysmith, Richard Wright, Alessandro Pistone and now David Weir – following his head injury in midweek – out long term.

Andy van der Meyde and Simon Davies have ankle injuries, but the Wales midfielder is expected to be fit, while Tim Howard has recovered from the virus that kept him out of the Carling Cup win over Luton in midweek.

Provisional squad: Howard, Davies, Yobo, Stubbs, Lescott, Cahill, Carsley, Osman, Arteta, McFadden, Beattie, Johnson, Turner, Anichebe, Boyle, Hughes, Valente, Neville.
