Nonda doubt for Rovers

Striker Shabani Nonda is Blackburn’s biggest injury worry ahead of Sunday’s Barclays Premiership trip to West Ham.

Striker Shabani Nonda is Blackburn’s biggest injury worry ahead of Sunday’s Barclays Premiership trip to West Ham.

The Democratic Republic of Congo international, signed on loan from Roma in the summer, was carried off on a stretcher during his side’s 2-0 midweek Carling Cup defeat to Chelsea.

An X-ray on his shin has not revealed any serious damage but manager Mark Hughes is not confident the 29-year-old will have recovered in time to travel to Upton Park.

However, Morten Gamst Pedersen’s twisted ankle, sustained on Wednesday, should not affect his participation in the capital.

Provisional squad: Friedel, Neill, Khizanishvili, Tugay, Emerton, Savage, Bentley, Nonda, McCarthy, Pedersen, Mokoena, Jeffers, Gallagher, Ooijer, Brown, Gray, Peter, McEveley, Roberts.
