Sheffield United have submitted a claim of wrongful dismissal with the Football Association following Claude Davis’ sending off against Everton on Saturday.

Sheffield United have submitted a claim of wrongful dismissal with the Football Association following Claude Davis’ sending off against Everton on Saturday.

The 27-year-old defender received a red card from referee Dermot Gallagher during the first half at Goodison Park for bringing down Andrew Johnson when through on goal in the penalty area.

James Beattie scored the subsequent penalty and the hosts held on for a 2-0 win against 10 men, with Blades boss Neil Warnock criticising Gallagher after the match.

A statement from the FA confirmed: “The FA has received a claim for wrongful dismissal from Sheffield United defender Claude Davis.”

A disciplinary commission will consider the claim tomorrow.
