Cork hopes ebb away
Cork City 1 Longford Town 1
Denis Behan hit a stoppage time equaliser as Cork’s title retention hopes ebbed further away as they drew for the seventh time in ten games.
Both sides had chances - Stephen Paisley heading wide for Longford; Alan Bennett heading against the bar for Cork - before Longford stole the lead on 31 minutes.
Cork keeper Mick Devine parried Gary Cronin’s free-kick which burst through the defensive wall and David Freeman was first to the loose ball to drill it home.
Longford had Dessie Baker sent off for a second booking right on 90 minutes before Behan levelled two minutes later.
Danny Murphy sent over the cross and substitute Behan arrived to head against the bar and then follow up to shoot home the rebound.
