Wolves appeal over Breen red card

Wolves have confirmed they have lodged an appeal to the Football Association over Gary Breen’s sending-off at Cardiff.

Breen was dismissed by referee Pat Miller for use of the elbow during the 4-0 defeat at Ninian Park but the club believe the contact was accidental.

Club secretary Richard Skirrow told the club’s official website: “Gary Breen was adamant from the time of his dismissal no intent was involved.

“He was demonstrating to the assistant referee that he himself had been caught in a challenge with Steve Thompson, who also tried to appeal on Gary’s behalf.

“On viewing video evidence on Monday the club felt an appeal was justified.”
