Lansdowne Road is in the running to host the 2010 UEFA Cup final following talks between UEFA officials and the FAI in Strasbourg today.

Speaking after the talks, FAI chief executive John Delaney said a decision had been made that the Dublin stadium would host a Champions League or UEFA Cup final after it is redeveloped in the coming years.

UEFA chief executive Lars-Christer Olsen said the 2010 UEFA cup final would probably be awarded to Lansdowne if the new stadium is ready on time.

He also said UEFA was hoping to stage the under-21 European Championships finals in Ireland in 2011, probably using stadiums on both sides of the border.
