Olivier Bernard has moved to Newcastle for a second spell following his release by Rangers this summer.

The French full-back left Tyneside in January last year to join Southampton on loan and made the switch to Ibrox a year ago.

And after an unsuccessful stint in Scotland, the 26-year-old left-back has today signed a deal with the Magpies – sanctioned because he is a free agent.

He follows the arrivals of Damien Duff, Obafemi Martins, Giuseppe Rossi and Antoine Sibierski at St James’ Park.
