Given set to miss out

Shay Given is likely to miss tomorrow night’s UEFA Cup qualifying clash between Newcastle and Ventspils through injury.

The Republic of Ireland international only made the 2-1 Barclays Premiership win over Wigan after having a pain-killing injection for a back muscle problem, and is set to be replaced by Steve Harper, with 18-year-old Dutchman Tim Krul providing the back-up.
