Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck has revealed why the champions felt the need to lodge an official complaint about his predecessor Ken Bates. The Blues have accused Leeds chairman Bates of bringing the game into disrepute.

Bates branded Chelsea a “bunch of shysters from Siberia” and Buck used his programme notes to tell fans the club had to hit back and complain to the Football Association. The London club claim the comment is a racial attack on the race, religion and nationality of their owners.
