New Chelsea pair set to figure

Chelsea new boys Michael Ballack and Andrei Shevchenko are both expected to feature in Sunday’s FA Community Shield against Liverpool in Cardiff.

However, French midfielder Claude Makelele has been given extra time to recover from the World Cup, and although William Gallas – who failed to link up with the rest of the squad for their recent pre-season tour to the United States - is now back at the club, he will not be included.

Midfielder Joe Cole (knee) and goalkeeper Peter Cech (shoulder) are both missing through injury.
