FA set United appeal deadline

The Football Association has confirmed it has now received the referee’s report into the dismissals of Wayne Rooney and Paul Scholes against Porto last Friday.

The Manchester United duo have been reported for violent conduct and serious foul play respectively, and have been given until Friday afternoon to appeal against disciplinary action.

It seems certain the Red Devils will take up that action as if the charges went uncontested both players would be forced to serve three-match bans beginning with the Premiership game at Charlton on Wednesday, August 23.
