Quinn failes to land Spurs duo

Sunderland manager Niall Quinn has been thwarted in a bid to land Tottenham duo Calum Davenport and Andy Reid.

Winger Reid, 24, and 23-year-old centre-back Davenport are both admired by Quinn.

“We enquired about a couple of players at Spurs, but there was nothing doing,” Quinn told the club’s official website. “Spurs rejected all our advances.”

The Sunderland chief has also denied being interested in bringing former Black Cats team-mate Michael Bridges back to the Stadium of Light from Carlisle.

“Michael is not someone we are looking at the moment,” he added.
