Drogheda need extra time to get past Helsinki
Drogheda 3 HJK Helsinki 1 AET (Drogheda win 4-2 on aggregate)
Damien Lynch’s extra-time penalty double helped Drogheda into the second qualifying round of the UEFA Cup.
Having trailed 1-0 at half-time following a 1-1 draw in Finland a fortnight ago, United levelled through defender Graham Gartland’s goal shortly before the hour mark.
The score remained level until full-time but Lynch scored from the penalty spot either side of half-time in extra-time to seal their place in the second qualifying round.
