Smith makes recovery progress

Manchester United striker Alan Smith will miss the whole of pre-season despite progressing well from his horrific leg-break.

The 25-year-old, who has been sidelined since suffering a broken leg and dislocated ankle joint in February, is on course for the six to seven-month absence diagnosed at the time.
