Longford salvage a point at Belfield
UCD 2 Longford Town 2
Stephen Paisley scored for the second match running as Longford came from 2-0 down to salvage a point at Belfield.
In a lively start to the game UCD raced into a two goal lead with a double from Patrick McWalter.
The College striker fired his side in front on 16 minutes from close range from Derek Doyle's cross.
A mistake by Town keeper Mick Dempsey gifted UCD their second goal four minutes later when he allowed McWalter to out-jump him on the edge of the area to head in Alan Cawley's cross.
But Town, who’d won their previous two games, hit back ten minutes later.
Dessie Baker put Dave Mooney away down the left and his cross was turned home by Dean Fitzgerald.
Baker then brought a good save from Darren Quigley before halt-time as Town were right back in the match.
Quigley was there again to thwart substitute Robbie Martin two minutes into the second half.
But it was a mere reprieve for UCD as, from Steven Gough’s resulting corner, Stephen Paisley arrived to power a header to the net.
Dempsey then redeemed for his mistake with two vital late stops to deprive Conor Sammon and Patrick Kavanagh.
