Miguel: Figo's a revelation

Portugal defender Miguel believes that the national side have their own answer to Zinedine Zidane in Luis Figo.

Zidane, who has just turned 34, has won plenty of plaudits with the displays that have helped France to a semi-final with the Portuguese on Wednesday in Munich.

However, Miguel believes that 33-year-old Figo, a former Real Madrid team-mate of Zidane’s has been just as important to his side’s march to the last four.

Asked which Portuguese players have impressed him, Miguel said: “If you ask me to single out players from this World Cup I would say (Fernando) Meira and Ricardo Carvalho.

“If you ask me who the revelation has been it must be Figo. At 33 how he runs and how he plays – that’s Figo for you!”
