Sunderland chairman Bob Murray could receive a cut-price £5.7m (€8.3) for his stake in the club if Niall Quinn’s takeover is successful.

It is understood that Quinn and his Irish consortium are on the verge of making a formal offer for Murray’s 56.8% shareholding as part of an overall £10m (€15m) bid for the Black Cats.
