Charles strike lifts Bray from bottom
Bray Wanderers 1 Longford Town 0
Wes Charles scored his first goal in almost a year - and Bray's first in just under nine hours of football - to give them their first win of the season and lift them off the foot off the table.
Longford had the better of the first half with Bray having keeper Chris O’Connor to thank for keeping them in it at the break.
Dessie Baker brought the first save from O’Connor on ten minute before the Australian made a terrific one-handed stop to turn Andy Myler's header round a post. Bray were better in the second half with Paul Caffrey drilling wide while Colm James headed over the bar from David Tyrrell’s cross before the goal finally arrived on 80 minutes.
Tyrrell’s corner wasn’t defended and Stephen Fox laid it off to central defender Charles who rifled to the roof of the net off his left foot from the edge of the area to the palpable relief of the majority at the Carlisle Grounds.
