Bohs vote for Castleknock move

Bohemians are to sell their Dalymount Park stadium in Dublin in a deal worth €50m.

Bohs will move to a new site beside the M50 motorway in Castleknock after 105 years playing in the Phibsboro stadium.

Club secretary Gerry Conway said it had been very emotional when members decided to approve the sale at an emergency meeting last night.

“Dalymount has been a huge servant to Bohemians in its time and it’ll always be fondly remembered by Bohs’ fans,” he said.

But Mr Conway said the fact the deal had been approved by 86% of Bohemians’ members showed they thought it was the best way forward for the club.

The news is a blow for rival Dublin club Shelbourne, which was planning to move from its ground in Tolka Park and redevelop Dalymount Park in partnership with Bohemians.

The deal with Andorey Developments will see the Bohemians get a new 10,000-capacity stadium in addition to a €25m lump sum.

The club will stay at Dalymount until the construction of their new stadium is complete. This is expected to take up to five years.
