John Terry will miss his first Barclays Premiership game of the season at Blackburn tomorrow.

Terry needed stitches in a leg wound after a crunching tackle by Wayne Rooney in Saturday’s 3-0 win against Manchester United.

The Chelsea skipper has not travelled north with the champions and will have a scan on his ankle to find out if any further damage was sustained.

Michael Essien, Claude Makelele and Didier Drogba have all remained in London to have treatment on unspecified injuries.

Jose Mourinho said he would be happy to rest Terry, Frank Lampard and Joe Cole from the final two games of the season if he was asked by Sven-Goran Eriksson.

Provisional squad: Cech, Cudicini, Ferreira, Carvalho, Huth, Gallas, Del Horno, Lampard, Maniche, Diarra, Geremi, Gudjohnsen, Robben, J Cole, Duff, Wright-Phillips, Crespo, C Cole.
