Major doubt over Southgate

Middlesbrough skipper Gareth Southgate is a major doubt for Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final against West Ham.

The 35-year-old missed last night’s 1-0 UEFA Cup defeat by Steaua Bucharest in Romania with an ankle problem, and is unlikely to recover in time for the game at Villa Park.

Chris Riggott, who was suspended for the European game, returns to the squad, while Mark Viduka (thigh) and Lee Cattermole (ankle) could also be back in contention and Aiyegbeni Yakubu is expected to recover from a dead leg.
