Riggott misses out for Boro
Middlesbrough will be without centre-back Chris Riggott for tomorrow night’s UEFA Cup semi-final first-leg clash with Steaua Bucharest in Romania.
The former Derby defender is suspended after picking up a booking against Basle in the last round, his third in this season’s competition.
Manager Steve McClaren will also miss Emanuel Pogatetz (facial fracturers), Gaizka Mendieta (metatarsal) and Lee Cattermole (ankle), but striker Malcolm Christie is named in a European squad for the first time since September 2004 after his injury nightmare.
Provisional squad: Schwarzer, Jones, Parnaby, Bates, Queudrue, Taylor, Southgate, Ehiogu, Wheater, Morrison, Doriva, Boateng, Rochemback, Parlour, Downing, Johnson, Hasselbaink, Maccarone, Viduka, Yakubu, Christie.
