Footballer Wayne Rooney has resolved his “outstanding issues” with a gambling company, it was announced tonight.
The Manchester United star reportedly ran up a debt of some £700,000 (€1m), but company Goldchip said that, after talks with Rooney’s management, the matter was “now closed”.
In a statement to the Press Association, Goldchip said: “Following recent press stories Goldchip is pleased to state that outstanding issues between the company and Wayne Rooney have now been fully resolved as a result of talks between Stephen Smith and Paul Stretford of Proactive Sports Management.
“The matter is now closed and there will be no further comment.”
