Aston Villa striker Milan Baros is hoping to return to the side for Sunday’s clash with West Brom at Villa Park.

Baros has missed Villa’s last three games after damaging his ankle during the FA Cup defeat at Manchester City last month but he has been back in full training this week.

Midfielder Gareth Barry should shake off the knee injury that he picked up at Arsenal last weekend. But skipper and central defender Olof Mellberg will miss his third successive game as he battles to recover from a hamstring strain.

Winger James Milner will miss a sixth successive game as he recovers from a virus while central defender Mark Delaney and midfielder Patrik Berger remain sidelined by knee and Achilles problems respectively.

Provisional squad: Sorensen, Taylor, Hughes, Cahill, Ridgewell, Barry, Davis, McCann, Hendrie, Angel, Phillips, Baros, Moore, Whittingham, De La Cruz, Gardner, Agbonlahor, Olejnik, Djemba-Djemba.
