Fans poll goes against Bruce
Birmingham fans want Steve Bruce’s four-and-a-half-year reign as manager of the midlands club to end, according to a poll in The Birmingham Mail.
A telephone poll conducted by the newspaper asking the question: “Is it time for Bruce to go?” resulted in 52% of supporters taking part calling for a change at St Andrews.
Birmingham crashed to their heaviest defeat in 48 years when they were annihilated 7-0 by Liverpool in Tuesday’s FA Cup quarter-final at St Andrews.
City have also been in the bottom three of the Premiership for the past five months and their next two games are against the top two of Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday and Chelsea at home the following weekend.
Blues chairman David Gold said: “The next nine games are the most important in the history of the club. We spent 16 years outside of the top flight. I couldn’t bear for that to happen again.”
