McClaren rings the changes
Two of the men in the frame to succeed Sven-Goran Eriksson as England manager went head to head this afternoon as Charlton hosted Middlesbrough.
The Football Association have confirmed chief executive Brian Barwick met with Addicks boss Alan Curbishley, albeit informally, as the search to find the next head coach of the national team gathers pace.
Meanwhile, Steve McClaren, already involved in the current England set-up, took his Boro side to south-east London on the back of their midweek UEFA Cup win over Roma.
However, only goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer and defender Emanuel Pogatetz started again today as McClaren rang the changes for this FA Cup quarter-final rehearsal.
Charlton had drawn their last three matches 0-0, and Jay Bothroyd came into the attack in place of Marcus Bent, missing with a hamstring problem.
