Lokomotiv Moscow are the club midfielder Alexei Smertin has been talking to about a possible move back to Russia, according to Lokomotiv president Valeri Filatov.

The 30-year-old, currently on loan with Charlton from Chelsea, was in Moscow for Russia’s friendly with Brazil on Wednesday.

“We’re interested in signing Alexei Smertin but only on certain terms,” Filatov told Soviet Sport.

“I’ve talked with Smertin and his agent but we haven’t had talks with Charlton. Therefore, this is open to question.”

Earlier this week Smertin admitted to discussing moving to a Russian club but did not reveal the name of the side.

“I’ve received an offer from a Russian club and now my agent is considering that,” he said.

“But I can’t say anything definitely.”

Hibernian striker Garry O’Connor has undergone a two-day medical in Germany, ahead of a possible £1.6m move to Lokomotiv.
