Rams target Sunderland striker
Interim Derby manager Terry Westley has confirmed the club are keen to sign out-of-favour Sunderland striker Andy Gray on loan.
Westley, who has been placed in charge at Pride Park until the end of the season, has already acquired Charlton striker Kevin Lisbie on a month’s loan.
Gray has managed just one goal in 22 appearances since joining the Black Cats from Sheffield United for a £1.1m (€1.6m) fee in August.
But with on-loan Tottenham striker Mounir El Hamdaoui sidelined by a groin injury and Danny Graham having returned to Middlesbrough following a three-month loan, Westley is lacking options.
He said: “There’s no doubt about it, we’re short up front and we’ll try to make something happen over the next few days. We’ve got to get players who are proven at this level and we think Gray could come into our team and have an instant impact.”
