Tottenham head coach Martin Jol is waiting to hear if Egyptian striker Mido will return from international duty in time to play against Sunderland on Sunday.

Tottenham head coach Martin Jol is waiting to hear if Egyptian striker Mido will return from international duty in time to play against Sunderland on Sunday.

Mido is expected back after being banned by Egypt for six months following a touchline bust-up with coach Hassan Shehata during their African Nations Cup semi-final victory. However, Jol may choose to stick with the strike pairing of Robbie Keane and Jermain Defoe against the bottom club in the Barclays Premiership. New signing Danny Murphy, from Charlton, is expected to make his debut for the Londoners.

Spurs have injury doubts over Edgar Davids (stress fracture) and Teemu Tainio (ankle) while Michael Dawson is suspended and Andy Reid is definitely out with knee ligament trouble.

PROVISIONAL SQUAD: Robinson, Cerny, Stalteri, Lee, Gardner, King, Lennon, Murphy, Huddlestone, Kelly, Jackson, Defoe, Keane, Carrick, Jenas, Barnard, Davids, Davenport.
