Shearer not adverse to foreign boss
Alan Shearer would not be against a foreign manager taking over at Newcastle - in spite of his own bitter experience with Dutchman Ruud Gullit.
Gullit famously dropped Shearer against Sunderland back in August 1999 only to lose his job shortly afterwards after a controversial 12-month reign at St James’ Park.
Shearer, who will retire at the end of a record-breaking season – he has overtaken Jackie Milburn’s goals record for the club – told the Daily Star: “As far as I am concerned it’s not important if the next manager is British. It just has to be the right man.”
