Liverpool will be without skipper Steven Gerrard for their Barclays Premiership trip to Charlton.

The midfielder has a knee injury that needed a precautionary scan this week, and although there is no long-term damage to the problem picked up against Chelsea on Sunday, he may also miss Saturday's trip to Wigan.

Liverpool will have re-signed striker Robbie Fowler in their squad for the trip to The Valley, and boss Rafael Benitez will also have to decide what part misfiring strikers Fernando Morientes and Djibril Cisse will play in the match.

Jose Reina starts his three-match ban after being red carded at Chelsea, so Jerzy Dudek will start his first senior match since the European Cup Final.

Provisional squad: Dudek, Finnan, Carragher, Hyypia, Riise, Warnock, Traore, Luis Garcia, Kewell, Alonso, Sissoko, Hamann, Crouch, Fowler, Morientes, Cisse, Carson, Agger, Kromkamp.
