Madsen in Southampton for medical

Cologne’s Danish international Peter Madsen is close to joining Coca-Cola Championship side Southampton on loan.

“The clubs have both reached an agreement over a loan deal,” said Cologne general manager Michael Meier.

“We hope that move can be finalised and we can reduce our squad accordingly.”

Madsen, 27, has scored 18 goals in the Bundesliga in spells with Bochum and Cologne.
