Maniche on the bench for Chelsea

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho put his only transfer window signing Maniche on the bench for the visit of Charlton.

It gave the Portugal midfielder, signed on loan from Dynamo Moscow but having previously been coached by Mourinho at Porto, his first chance to see the Premiership close up.

The Chelsea boss made one enforced change, with Damien Duff replacing the suspended Arjen Robben after his sending-off at Sunderland last week.

Charlton’s new recruit Marcus Bent, signed from Everton, was also on the bench, with Darren Ambrose replacing Shaun Bartlett in the starting line-up.
