Pearce: England link is embarrassing

Stuart Pearce has branded talk of him becoming England manager as “ludicrous and pathetic”, but the Manchester City boss has refused to rule himself out of the running to eventually replace Sven-Goran Eriksson.

Pearce was named by Wigan chairman Dave Whelan as part of a potential ‘dream team’ coaching partnership with Latics boss Paul Jewell as he called for the sacking of Eriksson following comments made by the Swede to an undercover Sunday newspaper reporter.
