Staunton to be formally unveiled as new Ireland manager
Steve Staunton is expected to be formally unveiled as the new manager of the Republic of Ireland later today.
The 36-year-old is Ireland's most-capped international, having played 102 matches during a career that spanned three World Cups.
Questions are already being asked about his suitability for the job, but the FAI has attempted to offset any concern by drafting in former England boss Bobby Robson as a managerial adviser.
Staunton is still facing a tough task during his four-year term, however, during which he will try to lead Ireland to a place in the finals of Euro 2008 and World Cup 2010.
