Thompson joins Cardiff

Coca-Cola Championship side Cardiff have signed Rangers striker Steven Thompson.

The 27-year-old’s contract at Ibrox was due to expire in the summer – but he opted to secure regular first-team football with the Bluebirds, rather than let his deal run down.

Thompson is expected to make his debut for Cardiff in Saturday’s clash with fellow play-off hopefuls Burnley at Ninian Park.
