Jose Mourinho insists Michael Essien is in no fit condition to start the African Nations Cup with Ghana.

The midfielder, who damaged ankle ligaments during the 3-1 Barclays Premiership win over West Ham on Monday, is unsure whether he will be able to take part in the competition for his country.
