Sorondo setback for Addicks

Charlton are set to be without defender Gonzalo Sorondo for around six weeks after it was confirmed he had fractured a bone in his foot.

The Uruguay centre-back – on a season loan from Inter Milan – suffered the injury against Arsenal on Boxing Day, with scans earlier this week revealing the extent of the problem.

Midfielder Danny Murphy (hamstring) is fit for tomorrow’s FA Cup third-round tie at Sheffield Wednesday, but Alexei Smertin (knee) and Jerome Thomas (virus) will not feature despite having resumed full training.

Striker Francis Jeffers – back from his loan spell at Rangers – is likely to go straight into the squad, but defender Talal El Karkouri is away with Morocco at the African Nations’ Cup.

Team (from): Myhre, Young, Powell, Hreidarsson, Fortune, Hughes, Holland, Murphy, Rommedahl, Bartlett, Bent, Andersen, Spector, Kishishev, Ambrose, Lisbie, Jeffers, Euell, Perry, Kiely.
