Ameobi undergoes scan

Shola Ameobi is to have a scan on a hip problem which has increased Newcastle boss Graeme Souness’ injury problems.

Ameobi limped out of the 2-2 draw with Middlesbrough last night and the injury could be a recurrence of the problem which plagued him for much of last season.
