Cole squanders chances

Manchester City striker Andy Cole squandered the chance to make the breakthrough against Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium.

He sent a soft shot into the arms of Mark Schwarzer from six yards in the 39th minute after good work by Joey Barton and Trevor Sinclair.

Middlesbrough struggled to get their game together after a poor run and the best chance of the half fell to James Morrison but he lashed his effort wide of the target.
