Newcastle appeal Bowyer red card

The Football Association have confirmed Newcastle have appealed against the sending off of Lee Bowyer in their Boxing Day match at Liverpool.

Midfielder Bowyer was dismissed for serious foul play after a tackle on Xabi Alonso during Newcastle’s 2-0 Barclays Premiership defeat at Anfield.
