Gilberto calls for card consistency

Arsenal midfielder Gilberto called for more protection and consistency from referees as he revealed his surprise at Michael Essien having escaped a red card at Highbury.

Gilberto was sent off the previous weekend by Dermot Gallagher for two relatively innocuous fouls at Newcastle, leading to him being suspended for Chelsea’s visit to Highbury.
