Cicinho makes Real Madrid move

Real Madrid have announced the signing of Brazil defender Cicinho from FIFA World Club champions Sao Paulo.

Real Madrid have announced the signing of Brazil defender Cicinho from FIFA World Club champions Sao Paulo.

Cicinho, a 25-year-old who is understudy to Cafu in the Brazil national side, will be available to make his debut when the Spanish season resumes after its winter break on January 8.

He has signed a five-year contract.

Madrid have also appointed their former coach Benito Floro as director of football.

Floro replaces Italian Arrigo Sacchi, who earlier this month announced he would be stepping down after just a year in the post, citing family reasons.

Floro was coach at Real for a little under two years in the early 1990s, leading the club to victory in the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup.
