Coleman: We are cutting the mustard

Fulham boss Chris Coleman is delighted with the progress made by his side this season and believes the club have overcome the loss of key players.

While Fulham’s away form is poor – they have yet to win on their travels - they are proving a formidable outfit on home soil, with Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Blackburn their fifth win in eight matches at Craven Cottage.

Top scorer Andy Cole and star goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar departed during the transfer window and Fulham have used few of their own summer signings since, with only full-back Niclas Jensen demanding regular selection on ability.

But Coleman is happy with the direction his side are heading in and hailed the commitment which he maintains was lacking last season.

“I’m way more comfortable and happy with the way we have been performing,” he said.

“This time last year we had played 17 games and had 16 points, and were not playing very well. This year we are a different unit and a harder team to beat.

“We have come on leaps and bounds as a team. There is more togetherness, more unity.

“We had players out but the guys who are here have shown commitment. That’s what got us the result against Blackburn.”
