Stuttgart test for Boro

Middlesbrough will take on Stuttgart in the last 32 of the UEFA Cup.

The German side, coached by the hugely successful Giovanni Trapattoni, will be the opponents for Steve McClaren’s men as the competition reverts to a two-legged knockout format after the group stages.

Boro topped their group with a 2-0 home win over Litex Lovech last night.

Bolton were handed a tough draw against French side Marseille, runners-up in the competition in 2004 when they knocked out Newcastle in the semi-finals.

Sam Allardyce’s side completed their UEFA Cup group stage with a 1-1 draw at home to Sevilla, while Marseille topped a group containing Levski Sofia, Heerenveen, CSKA Moscow and Dinamo Bucharest.
