Manchester City boss Stuart Pearce is optimistic defensive duo Sylvain Distin and Ben Thatcher will shake off minor knocks in time to face Birmingham at Eastlands on Saturday.

Distin has a tight groin, while Thatcher has been plagued by a hamstring injury over recent weeks, but Pearce believes both will be able to face Steve Bruce’s relegation-threatened side.
