The 25-year-old England striker remains sidelined with a groin injury which has kept him out of the club’s last three games, although he could be fit for next weekend’s visit of Arsenal.

Turkish midfielder Emre could be out for several weeks with a hamstring strain.

Fullback Celestine Babayaro is suspended, while Kieron Dyer (illness), Steven Taylor (shoulder) and Craig Moore (hamstring) remain on the casualty list.
