Jewellery stolen from Man Utd footballer

Manchester United footballer Cristiano Ronaldo had about £30,000 (€44,000) of jewellery stolen from his home by burglars, it emerged today.

The soccer star’s home in Woodford, Cheshire, was burgled while he was away playing matches for the Premiership team and Portugal.

The 20-year-old winger discovered the theft when he returned home last week.

A statement by Greater Manchester Police said they were informed of the raid but the victim had decided not to make a formal complaint.

A GMP spokeswoman said: “On Tuesday November 22 officers in Stockport were informed of a burglary at an address on Chester Road, Woodford.

“Officers attended the address and the victim informed them that they did not intend to make a formal compliant.”

She added the matter was closed and the investigation had ended.
