Big decisions ahead for Hoops - Dalglish
Kenny Dalglish believes Gordon Strachan and Roy Keane face some big decisions if the midfielder is to join Celtic.
The Hoops legend would not be surprised to see the former Manchester United skipper moving to Parkhead after stating his desire to finish his playing career there.
But Strachan must decide whether the 34-year-old would disrupt the dressing room or break the wage structure.
Dalglish said: âRoy Keane has stated publicly that he is a huge Celtic fan.
âHe has been to some of the Old Firm games and I think Gordon is a huge fan of Roy Keane as a player.
âWhether the two of them end up being together, who knows?
âBut there seems to be a lot of things going for it at the moment.
âHe is saying he is a Celtic fan so he has an opportunity to go and play for them.
âIf he would love to play for them and gets that opportunity, would he take it? Are Celtic in a position to give him that opportunity? I donât know the answer.
âThe people I have mentioned â Roy, Celtic and Gordon â are the people who can answer those questions.â
Strachan is desperate to hang on to star midfielder Stilian Petrov, who is set to be targeted by clubs all over Europe during the January transfer window.
Strachan is keen for the Bulgaria international â signed by John Barnes while Dalglish was director of football â to pen a contract extension to scare off any interest.
âHe was 19 and captain of Bulgaria so there must have been something,â said Dalglish.
âJohn liked what he saw, brought him over and has been totally vindicated in doing so.
âAt 19, coming from Bulgaria to Scotland is a bit of a culture change.
âIt was a bit of a move for him and it would take some time for him to settle.
âThat was nothing we didnât expect but he has settled down and so far heâs been doing really well this season.
âGood luck to him because heâs doing well and heâs made a career of it. Iâm sure he will continue to get better.â
Dalglish was speaking at the appointment of Stuart Sharp as National Development Officer for Disability Football in association with McDonaldâs.
