O'Flynn winning fitness race

Cork City striker John O'Flynn is confident of winning his race against time to be fit for the must-win eircom League decider against Derry City.

O'Flynn has been out of action for a month with a groin problem though manager Damien Richardson insists he will give his star striker as long as he can before deciding whether to play him.

Goalkeeper Mick Devine has shaken off a bout of flu and will start in goal.

Meanwhile, Shelbourne are interesting in signing Cork utility man Greg O'Halloran. The 26-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and is undecided about his future.

“Shels are looking for cover at full-back and centre-half and they have been in touch with me," said O'Halloran.

“I have not signed anything with Shels and there’s no pre-contract arrangement or anything like it.

“I owe it to [Cork manager] Damien Richardson to sit down and discuss things with him first and that’s the way it’s going to be with me and the rest of the lads.”
